Coruscant is the capital of the Republic. A city-wide planet, its massive skyscrapers tower above the skies. Field generators hold the buildings up and keep people who fall off the kilometer-high landing platforms from falling to their deaths by slowing their fall speed so a safe level. It is the location of the Jedi Temple and the Republic Senate.
In The Phantasmal Malevolence, Coruscant is first seen when the party arrives from Tatooine. Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan went to report to the Jedi Council while Padmé Amidala sought aid from the Senate. Faced with Chancellor Valorum's growing insanity, Queen Amidala called for a vote of no confidence in him which resulted in his removal from power. At the Jedi Temple, the Council was testing Anakin's Force abilities and finished with Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan's report before they left for Naboo again.
In The Silence of the Clones, Padmé is seen arriving on Coruscant as two pressing matters concern the Senate: a bill for a Grand Army of the Republic and a bill for the construction of a new moon for Naboo. Unfortunately, an assassination attempt is made on the senator as she arrives on the planet, killing a decoy. Despite that, Padmé manages to get to the Senate for the voting. The vote for the Grand Army was easily defeated while the Peace Moon project was accepted. That night, another assassination attempt is made on Padmé, leading to a chase in the skies of Coruscant in which Obi-Wan and Anakin were after the assassin, Zam Wessel, leading to her death when Anakin used her as a meat shield.
Revelation of the Sith began with a space battle in Coruscant's atmosphere shortly after Chancellor Palpatine had been kidnapped. Later, after Mace Windu attempted to kill Palpatine, Anakin led the 501st Clone Trooper Legion to attack the Jedi Temple, killing everyone they find. When Obi-Wan and Yoda show up, they find the clones there waiting for anyone to investigate the temple.
